About Us

From its humble beginnings in 1993 The Windsor International Busker Festival has evolved into one of the Windsor-Detroit area's most popular summer family events and one of Canada's most successful busker festivals, attracting some of the world's most sought after street performers. Buskers 2005 saw over 80,000 guests through the gates over four days festival raising both funds and profile for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Windsor & Essex County.

The continuing generosity of our corporate sponsors and festival guests ensures Buskers 2008 will be four days of unforgettable family fun and entertainment and a must see on the Windsor-Detroit area's summer festival circuit!

After a hiatus in 2007, the City of Windsor sought to find a permanent home for the Windsor International Buskers Festival. A number of different partners were considered, and after extensive research, the offer was made to Actors Theatre of Windsor (ATW) to co-produce the festival with the City Parks and Recreation department in 2008 and 2009, as part of the outdoor programing for the Windsor International Fringe Festival, with ATW taking over sole responsibility for the production of the festival in 2010. Busking is often an integral part of Festivals on the North American Fringe Festival tour, and the City sought a partner who both had experience in event production and was artist-centered in its approach.

Actors Theatre of Windsor is delighted to welcome Buskerfest into the Windsor Fringe 's family of outdoor programing events and it is our goal to make the Windsor International Buskerfest a permanent part of the Fringe from 2010 onwards.
